The big project for 2014-2015 was construction of a storage shed for the Buellton Senior Center. With funds from a District 5240 matching grant, our own match of those funds and a financial contribution from the Rotary Club of Buellton, club members dug footings, poured a concrete slab and built a wooden shed.  The shed was named Ed's Shed in honor of Ed Prutzman who began the Rotary year as the club president and who passed away in February. The club held its regular weekly meeting on June 11 at the site and dedicated the shed to Ed in the presence of his widow and children.

In October, we participated in Los Olivos' annual community street fair, Day in the Country.  Besides serving steak sandwiches and hot dogs, our members served as street monitors for the event, directing traffic away from the event.

In December at the annual Los Olivos Olde Fashioned Christmas event, we handed out free cookies and hot chocolate to everyone.

In February, we prepared and served a roast chicken dinner to patrons of the Solvang Senior Center.  Members planned the menu, purchased and cooked all the food, served everyone, then cleaned up. The Senior Center asks different businesses and civic organizations to do this monthly as a fund raiser for themselves. Several attendees said our meal was the best they have ever had there.

During one of the driest years on record, our efforts to refresh the paint in the Sunny Fields Park playground were thwarted by rain the last Saturday in April. We partner with the other local Rotary clubs on that day for a workday in the park.

In addition, club members have set up some of the club's pop-up canopies for several other organizations' events. The club does not loan out its canopies, but members may use them provided they have four people to set them up and take them down.
