President's Message

I hope you were able to participate in some of our great July offerings. The thank you event that the Buellton Senior Center folks put on for us was just amazing and I know many of you enjoyed dinner at Hook'd at Lake Cachuma. Two weeks ago we had a great program by Rachel Tennant of SEE International, based in Santa Barbara, about fixing vision issues for people in need all over the world. Last week we learned about efforts to stamp out Malaria. Where else but Rotary would you have such wonderful opportunities for fellowship, service and education?

We have lots going on as we get closer to Jazz & Olive REIMAGINED on October 9th. This is our chance to build up our Foundation funds so we can help all kinds of causes and give out scholarships to deserving students.  It's also not too early to start rounding up some quality silent auction items! Check in with Chris and Michele Britton, who are co-chairing the auction portion of the event.

Ron Walsh and Bob Dullea are anxious to get going on planning for our 20th anniversary celebration which will either be in late January or February, so if you want to join them, please get in contact with them.

The fun never ends in the Little Club that Can and Does!

Jazz & Olive Reimagined
The Details...
As you all know our club has not been able to hold its largest fundraiser, the Jazz and Olive Festival, for two years due to the pandemic. Ever the “little club that can and does” we created a “reimagined,” more intimate event to raise needed funds that will help us to continue our community and international good works.

So, the NEW Los Olivos Rotary Club “Jazz and Olive Reimagined” event is coming up on Saturday, October 9, noon to 3 pm at the Buttonwood Winery and Vineyard Pond. As this will be a different kind of Jazz and Olive gathering, we are going to need all our club members to pitch in and help make it a fun and memorable event for our guests.

As Jim Lohnas is well known for saying, it’s an “all hands-on deck” activity for our club members. If you haven’t signed up to help at the event yet, you will have the opportunity to do so when we visit the Buttonwood Winery Pond as our club activity on this week on Thursday, August 19. We will see where the event will be held and learn more about the “day of” activities. After our tour we’ll join Karen Steinwachs, Buttonwood winemaker, at the tasting room to enjoy a variety of Buttonwood wines. Specific details coming soon to your inbox about the Buttonwood visit.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Saturday, October 9 is THE DAY for “Jazz and Olive Reimagined” It is guaranteed to be fun event for all!
