The New Board (Most of It)
Youth Empowered
Our speakers last week were Chantalle & Lynne Castellanos. Chantelle and husband Omar are the owners of Youth Empowered. Their mission is to keep at-risk kids engaged with exercise and to build their self-confidence. Youth Empowered works with people "from two-year-olds to grandparents," Chantalle said, and has kids in their gym from after school to closing at 8:30 p.m., and sometimes even later. Chantalle is a Dunn graduate who moved away to pursue her career but returned to the valley when it was time to start her family.

Foundation Board Meeting
New Foundation board members met to elect officers for Rotary year 2017-2018. The board elected Dean Davidge as President; Secretary is Susan Dullea and Chief Financial Officer Gabi Robbins. Other board members are Judith Canby, Randall Day, Puck Lohnas and Rich Nagler.
The board allocated the Jazz and Olive Festival proceeds to the avenues of service in the same proportions as last year. Kate Koslosky presented a slate of international grants which were approved by the board. The board also approved a grant to buy six folding table for the Buellton Senior Center. We will be able to use them for J&O in coming years.
Brenda Cressey Update
The last issue of Rotarian magazine had an article about new trustees of the Rotary Foundation that named Brenda Cressey as one of only four trustees. Brenda was the District Governor when our club was chartered in 2002. She was also the keynote speaker at our 10th Anniversary Party.
Collaborative Bulletin
This bulletin is a joint effort by Dean Davidge, Dave Bemis and Bob Dullea. We met Wednesday evening at Dean's house for a training session. Readers should consider that this newsletter was finished after dinner and two bottle of wine.
