lompoc valley fallen warriors memorial
Laurie Lane, Gold Star Mother of Mitchell Lane who was killed in action in Afghanistan and Mitchell's childhood best friend, Roger McConnell, came to thank the club for its cash donation to their project and fill us in on the details of what they are doing. The memorial will honor every Lompoc area resident who died while serving in the military, whether in combat or training here at home.
The project got started soon after Mitchell was killed when some friends installed a bench in memory of Mitchell and it grew from there. First came a flag pole in Beattie Park, then plans for more landscaping, a Veteran's Wall, a Memorial Walk and a Donor's Circle. You can buy an engraved granite tile for the wall or an engraved brick for the walk.
WELCOME PATTI
Patti Murphy will be inducted into the club this Thursday. Be sure to come and welcome Patti. She is not related to Rex Murphy, one of our charter members who happened to be married to a Pat Murphy.
