Solvang Senior Center Dinner
On Wednesday last week, club members under the direction of Susan Merek Dullea prepared and served a corned beef and cabbage dinner at the Solvang Senior Center. Rave reports followed with comments that it was one of the best dinners ever. The Senior Center dinners are fund raisers for the Center and they invite a different group to provide the meal each month. If you missed helping out this time, we will be doing a similar dinner for the Buellton Senior Center in the fall.
No Show Program
Our scheduled speaker became ill at the last minute and was not able to come. President John, a board member of the Solvang Festival Theater, filled in with a report and discussion of the plans for renovating the theater. Built in 1974, some features are showing their age: the poles that hold up the lights in particular.
Foundation Board Meeting
Our club's foundation board met Monday evening and approved grants from all our avenues of service. Expect checks to be handed out at club meetings in the near future.
J & O Committee Meeting
The planning committee headed by Jim Lohnas met Tuesday night. Everything is on schedule. We need all the members to be available for the event on June 3. In the meantime, you can help by:
- Selling tickets
- Acquiring silent auction items
- Finding sponsors (advertising for the program plus event tickets, $250 - $1000)
- Asking a friend to help out at the event
Fifth Thursday Next Week
Next week we will be st the Equestrian Center (Refugio Road just before the river) to visit the Therapeutic Riding Program. See the email that Sarah Larkin sent out for more details.
