Dean Axelrod , the associate director of Partnerships and Philanthrophy at Direct Relief Ineternational in Santa Barbara, spoke at our meeting last week. With its primary focus on health, DRI partners with drug and other companies in sending material all over the world. DRI has been recognized as one of the best run charitable organizations anywhere. For every dollar donated to them, they send material with a wholesale value of $46 to needy people, GMOs or countries.
Welcome Back. Ray Lopez and Joe Sanguinet both attended the meeting last week. Ray has been on an extended leave of absence and Joe was teaching a class at Allan Hancock College that conflicted with our meetings.
Holiday Party. This week we will have our holiday party instead of a regular meeting. Everyone is asked to bring heavy hors d'oeuvers to share. Eggnog will be the featured beverage (wine, soda and water are available also). Family members are encouraged to attend. Regular time.

Women in Rotary 30th Anniversary Celebration. Leaders of the four Rotary clubs in the Valley are planning an event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of women being allowed to join Rotary clubs. The event will be held the evening of Thursday, May 4, in St Mark's Stacy Hall.
